Compared with steel bells of similar, but not identical type, the brass bells have a much nicer tone and the purer sounding ring is sustained much longer. A steel bell, (I have a number), sounds flat and the note sounds flat in comparison. They look nice too and don’t rust either, although the brass ding-dong tarnished when I accidentally contaminated it with sun-block, but that should polish off easily. I think you’ll like a brass bell.
I use a thread-locking compound to reduce the chance of theft.
